Is the packaging excessive?

Is the packaging made from recycled materials?

Is the plastic grade identified on the packaging?

Does your municipality accept the plastic grade identified?

Is there a blend of materials with the packaging ie. shiny cardboard?

Is the packaging complex with many small pieces?

Will the toy be used often or is it a fad product?

Consider keeping the packaging/box so that gently used toys can be donated with their packaging, giving another child the full experience. That is if it’s not torn to shreds ;)
